We Love Your Dogs and What We Do!

Whether you bring your dog for the day, the night, or several days and nights, rest assured knowing they will be loved and cared for like they are our own.

We are a small facility (a former one-room schoolhouse) and we are set up much like a home away from home for your dog. We have couches, TV's, and raised beds indoors. The facility is temperature controlled for those hot summer days or cold nights.

Keeping your dogs safe, comfortable and loved are our main priorities. To achieve this we keep our numbers low and don't accept more than 5-7 dogs at a time. (We are licensed for 10).

Our fencing is 6' tall and buried into the ground. We have a very large play yard with real grass, and trees for shade. We also have a second, smaller play yard for dogs that might want their own space due to age or size.

*We do not have breed restrictions! Dogs are accepted or denied based on their behavior, not their breed*

Be sure to read our participation requirements below.

Participation Requirements

The safety of all Schoolhouse Dogs is our top priority.

Any dog wishing to attend must:

  • Be up to date on the vaccines listed below.

  • Have a negative fecal sample in the last 6 months.

  • Be receiving regular monthly heartworm and intestinal parasite preventative medication which covers at minimum hookworms and roundworms. A medication that also covers whipworms is highly recommended.

  • Be receiving regular (monthly or according medication label) flea and tick preventative medication.

  • Have no history of aggression with dogs or people.

  • Be spayed or neutered (unless age restricts this).  Puppies must be finished with their puppy vaccines to attend.

  • Be crate trained (for nap time and/or overnights). (We do have a bedroom and office space for dogs that are not crate trained. )

  • Pass a "meet and greet" evaluation at the daycare (We are changing this to occur during the dog's first day).

  • Have had no signs of coughing, sneezing, vomit, or diarrhea within the last 48 hours.

  • Owners must submit the forms below at least 24 hours prior to the meet and greet evaluation.

Vaccines

  • Rabies

  • Distemper combo (distemper, hepatitis/adenovirus, parvovirus, +/- parainfluenza*)

  • Leptospirosis

  • Bordetella +/- parainfluenza*

  • Optional: Influenza (canine flu)

*Please note: Parainfluenza is required, but may be given as part of the distemper combo or in combination with bordetella. No vaccine is fully protective for kennel cough however, vaccination for bordetella and parainfluenza greatly reduces the chance of infection and reduces the severity of disease in pets that contract kennel cough.
