About Us
Hi and welcome to Schoolhouse Dogs! I'm Alicia Wright, the owner, care taker, appointment setter, greeter, finance manager, social media director, pooper scooper and janitor all rolled into one! (And sometimes my husband helps)

I have been working in the animal care field for a couple years now. I was a temp at the Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter for 6 months. After that I moved on to working through Rover as a pet sitter. This is where I started to board dogs in my home and realized I could dog-sit on a larger scale. My husband and I purchased a one-room schoolhouse just down the road from our house with the intent to turn it into a dog daycare and boarding facility... and Schoolhouse Dogs was created.

I would love to someday open a one-dog rescue on the one-room schoolhouse property! Income from the daycare and boarding business would support saving dogs, one at a time.

We officially opened in the summer of 2022. We are a small facility with a maximum capacity of around 8-10 dogs. Dog safety is our top priority. We want your dogs to feel like they are going to their second home!
